The first idea only got one vote, this was the idea i was least happy with. I found an image online of a scratch effect and put it over the image and turned the opacity down to make it look like the images had scratches on them.
I continued to did this with the others. The second idea again only got one vote which i found disappointing as i quite like that one as i felt it gave the digipak a more vintage look.
Finally, idea three got nine votes and 81% liked this one the best. This is the image that has the screwed up paper effect on it. I am pleased that this is the one my audience chose it was one of my favourites and i have decided to keep the design of it and just make a few minor changes to make it look even better.

Track list survey results
I am really happy with the results I found from the track list survey. Generally everyone knew the genre of the artist, and all agreed that they, either would listen to it or would consider it.
Based on the results from the question 'how do you think it could be improved' I think I will make the track list longer, as suggested by a respondent. I will also change the order of the songs to make sure they don't clash and flow through instead of 'fast/slow/fast'.

Track list survey.
I have created a survey based on my track listing. I have done this so that i can get my target audiences opinion and feedback, i can also make improvements if the results show that the audience think it could be better. I will check the results in a week and post them, also including the changes made.

Survey Results.
These are the results from our audience survey. We are very pleased with our results, most answers were positive, and the criticism was constructive so we can take it on board when making our digipak's and music video.
We are going to tyr our typography in white, as suggested and see if it works with our genre. We think it may be a good idea as white is a easily readable colour.

You Me at Six: Digipak analysis
The album comes with a DVD that is all about the band; who they are, how they got together and where they are today. This could be seen as a treat for the audience for buying the album. There is also individual pictures of the band, posing as if they were lining up to get there mugshot done in prison, still in the theme of the album but also seen as a treat.
The inside image shows a blacked out image of the band, showing only their figure. This relates back to our idea as we wanted to have a sundown, and only showing our figures, reiterating the point that the band are souly focused on their music and performance.
The fact that the album is based on prison could suggest the band are rebellious and that they don't obey the law. The colour scheme portrays the band as having lack of emotion and creates a grainy effect, like they live like rockstars.
The back of the digipack shows the same typography as the front, suggesting a houses theme between the two. The back offer usual codes and conventions of a normal back cover.
The picture on the outer part of the digipak shows their faces and represents them as being very serious meaning that they mean business and aren't messing around. In the photo the band are looking towards the camera which looks like they are interacting with the audience and makes them feel like the album is aimed toward them. The image is taken with very high contrast and uses low key light light this creates shadows and emphasis' the black and white.
The three interior panes of the digipak are covered by one photo. The criminal theme is continued, the image look as if it is a police desk covered in police information and evidence. The fingerprints shown in the inner part of the digipak would appeal to the fans as they are personal and would make the fans feel closer to the band.
Inside the digipak is a lyric book which is conventional for this genre (Punk/rock). The photo is taken from a low angle suggesting they are inferior. The lyrics themselves are set out normally, just the text written again in white, nothing to make it more interesting.

Mainstream vs independent
Matt Cardle, 2010 winner of the x factor, recorded a studio version of the song "Many of Horror" by Biffy Clyro. The song became the UK's christmas number one and since 2012 it has had over 1 million hits. Where Biffy Clyro only had 225,000. Fans of the band made an internet campaign to get the original "Many of Horror" re-entered into the charts. it hit its peak reaching number eight in the UK singles chart.
Matt Cardle had been quoted to say he did not want to change the song but to make it his own. However he changed the song completely (apart from the lyrics) making the song acoustic so he could play guitar and re-naming the song "When we Collide".
It could be said that this was a marketing scheme as the song before was consider to be for a more niche audience and not to the mainstream music taste. However it could be for the image of Matt Cardle or what the x factor have helped him to become.
This helped me decide on what would be good for an artist label, i decided independent would be a good one to do as i want to be able to make a independent label more recongisable and make the artist be know, so we thought we could twist this and do a cover of a mainstream song by an independent label and see if it sells just as well or even more.

Cross Media Conversion: Analyse on artist.
We was set a task to individually analysis an artist on website, a poster, and album and a music video. This was designed to help us with our artist and ideas for them.
It helped to convey the typical codes and conventions found in each one of these fields. Particularly in the music video, as this show intertexual references and helped us think abou how the lyrics can link to the video, or action happening on screen.

The Culture industry: The fratellis
The fratellis are a band that could be suggested to be against Adorno and Horkheimer. Although they are considered to be 'indie rock' they don't fit into the usual codes and convention of it.
Starting in 2005 on a independent label, and then moving to a major label in 2012 their music has not been affected by this change, which most bands have been. This goes against Adorno and Horkheimer 'lock and key theory'.
Considering that appearance is meant to be key in success, their looks, well aren't to everyones taste. The fratellis fame is therefore down to their music and not their looks, clearly.
Their website is also very simple with no main image, we are instead presented with the title in large white letters. again, reiterating the point that their fame is not based on their looks. However, it is clear that the record label has had some impact on the website as they have a 'Brand New Fratellis Merchandise Now Available! Click Here to Buy' title at the top. This meaning that Adorno and Horkheimer could be right in saying that artist are used as a means to make money.
