Editing

After hearing feedback from Leanne and the class we decided to edit some more of our footage. Changing the beginning chorus to a shot of the band singing as this was a convention that needed to be added in to fit better with the song. However we didn't want to repeat this shot later in the video so we decided to extend the shot of the band spinning around in danson park, which we felt suited better anyway. We also decided to add an old shot of the point of view shot of the cars driving past the artist. We then sped it up so it matched the pace of the song.

Editing: 7th February

Today we made some more changes to our music video. Changing the shots of us walking towards the camera to an old shot of us walking away. I chose this so the shots matched the ones that were more naturally orange. I then changed the speed so it fitted in with the beat of the music and fitted in with the following shot of the cars in London being speeded up.

We also changed the shots colours so that all the shots are now a more warmer colour and like the others have an orange tint to them. I feel this now makes the video suit better as before the shots we're more dark and a more blue colour.

Editing: 6th January

Today we edited all the footage we filmed from tuesday. We decided that the shots look a lot better than before and hope to show it to Leanne soon and hear her feedback

Filming: 4th January

This is our filming from the 4th of February. I am very happy with the progress with have made, we reshot all of the "why the hell it means so much to me" and "this is what i wanna be". We also filmed some 'selfies' as suggested by are target audience.

We are not completely finished with our filming as we are thinking of changing or reshooting some of our shots so that they fit in better with the rest of the footage.

Editing

Today we edited the clips from yesterdays filming. We managed to get all the clips to fit in and luckily didn't have the same trouble with having to speed up the singing to fit in with the lyrics like we did last time. We tried editing the shots that looked a little too dark, however some shots like the last few of us running were too dark to try lighting them too much as they would look too flat. We are trying to make it far with everyone editing at different times and the others putting in suggestions on what could be done to make the shot look even better.

Filming

We met after school to film at megan's house. We decided to reshoot some of the shots we had already filmed, for example 'why the hell it means so much to me' when the lead singer hayley sung this we felt it didn't fit in well with the other footage. We are much happier with the out come with it now.
We also decided to film the shots for the instrumental in-between the versus and the chorus were we are walking towards the camera and the following shot when we see cars driving past. We filmed the shot were we are running towards the camera, however it was a bit too dark in some parts so we are not sure if we are able to use it or are going to have to reshoot.

We had decisions about changing our intertextual reference to something that may be easier to convey to our particular audience. One idea that was brought up was to recreate The Beatles famous walk over the road, we feel this will be suitable for our audience as we are a british band, like The Beatles. We are still planning to film on sunday up london and have arranged the places to meet and times and we meet again on monday to shoot the shots that need to be done at my house.

Editing the footage

Today we edited the footage that we filmed yesterday. We had quite a lot of shots to look through which turned out to be a good thing because some were not suitable. We added them to the other footage and now we have one full chorus and other footages as part of the verus'.

However, we changed a bit from our story board as we found that we had not count some of the extra 'suddenly i see' which we then decided to fill with a mid shot of the guitarist signing a back ground part. This looks better than what we had planned as we had planned to have me and megan as the background singers to begin with. We also discovered that although we did film quite a lot of shots of the lead singer miming along to the lyrics that some weren't right so we will have to reshoot them tuesday in order to make the clip look better.

We also found that some of the singing was too slow so we had to increase the speed slightly so it was in time with the music. We feel it fits in better now that the orignal clip.

Filming

Today we went back to danson to film a bit more of our music video. I feel happy with the progress we have made. We managed to film most of the singing parts of the video, including the close ups of the lead singer (Hayley) and the shots of us sitting all together.

However due to the weather we couldn't film the whole things we needed to film, therefore we have planned to film more on tuesday, again at danson and wednesday at megan's and my house.

The finally part of the filming will be done at london, which we are hoping to get done the following weekend and film as much as we can so we can edit in tuesdays lesson. There will only be about 15 shots to do at this point so we will experiment with angles and different shots and test them with the rest of the footage to see which one suits better with the whole piece. Hopefully everything will be done before the first screening in February.

12th December

Discussions and editing.
We have decided that some of the shots we have used in the video are not good and have decided to look again through the footage and edit some more into it to see if they fit better in with the footage.

We also did test shots of the images and videos before filming the lip syncing. We wanted to have a shallow depth of field so we used a 50mm lens. We have decided this will be a perfect camera and lens for our further filming.

11th december

Today i fixed the problem we was having with the sound be bumpy, i did this by downloading thr sound from you tube to an mp3 file and then converted it again to an aiff file. The sound is now much better and i am happy with it.

 I also edited the footage we filmed yesterday it is in order and ready to put the next bit of footage into it.

10th December

Today we converted the files from the camera, we also checked through them to see which ones are the best for the video. After choosing we can begin to edit.

9th December

We finally started filming for our music video today, we are happy with the progress we have made and are going to edit it as soon as possible so we can film soon. We just need to shoot a couple more shots at Danson and then the rest at London. These include the chorus "suddenly i see" and some of the beginning shots.

Filming Research

We researched to get to the places we want today. For example we know we need to get to charing cross via the northern line, this will also be able to take us to waterloo where we can get to Big Ben and the London Eye. From the northern line we can get a tube from Lester square to the Piccadilly circus.  

We also found out that some places are not allowed to be filmed, for example South Bank is not allowed to be filmed as it is private property. 

In our storyboads we wanted to get a point of view shot of us when we are on the tour bus, however we found out today that it is cheaper to go on a cruise around london and we would still get all the views and sites. This is going to be a decision we will have to make as a group. 

Print Advert

Today i edited my print advertisement. I wanted to keep the poster simple so it suggests that the band are more about the music then their looks. I used a white typography to make it stand out with a black background to make it more eye catching. I made the advertisement appeal to my audience as i added a "feat. Kings of Leon" but which the audience would be a fan of and therefore make it more appealing to them.

The idea of a black back ground came from Florence and The Machines print advert for "Lungs" which uses, similar to mine, a black back ground with the album art work in the middle of the poster, making it the central focus. If the audience want to find out any information they can find it on itunes, which is the reason the itunes icon is located on the bottom right of the poster.

Shooting schedule

Theses are the days we have planned to film, we have decided that we will be filming any Danson park or woods footage on the friday as we only have a couple of hours and then filming the London footage on saturday. This way during the following week we can edit the footage we already have and then film again the next weekend and edit that into the previous part. We feel this will help us to keep on top of things and make sure we can finish the final bit of filming by the end of December.

20th November: showing of animatics

We showed our animatics to the class. I am happy with the feedback we received, our genre came across well and the shots matched the beat of the song. Many said that they would have multiple viewings of the piece

However, some said they didn't notice our intertextual references and notion of looking, however we did explain that we did include them but they're not as clear on the storyboards

18th November

After hearing feedback about my digital from Leanne and the class I have decided to start my second draft of my digipak. On Friday we went to megs house to take some more pictures. We tried to take as many as possible and ended up with 236 photos that I sorted through today and decided on which ones I wanted for my digipak. However I have decided to keep one of my old images from the ones we took in danson. This is because I feel the image is the only suitable one for the inner panel. Although I have taken Leanne's advice on board and have added text onto the pictures so its not to bland.

15th: digipak photos

As we received feedback that our digipak wasn't working well, we have decided to do a photo shoot today, we took some pictures at megan's house and then needing to reshoot some at danson. For example we experimented with taking ones laying down and ones that we had drawn out for our initial idea on our digipaks. We also took many other ones that will posted soon, i will experiment will mixing around with the photos and see which one my target audience will like best and take their advice.

15th Novemeber

 We finally finished our storyboards today. I am pleased with the way they came out as they are a lot better than i expected, we included an intertextual reference from blondies video, we feel that as our target audience will be indie/rock fans, they will know of blondie and will recognise this moment as it runs throughout most of the video. We also added in the beginning shots of the instrumental, we made 10 shots of each location in the video so it foreshadows what will happen later on in the video. We decided that having a narrative wasn't that important in this case in our video. However we did stick to Goodwin's theory's on music video and consider and made every stage he spoke about. We are hoping to film as soon as possible, filming the london bits first.
